Healing and the Disciples

Introduction (Matt 17: 14-21)

The Gospel or Good news is one of action. With the Word of God comes Salvation, Healing and Deliverance. In order to be effective in the ministry you must have a little faith. Just because you one of the Kingís kids does not make you the Devilís Terminator. Good things come to those who seek Godís kingdom with signs and wonders.

1.      Need of Humanity:

When you approach the multitude meaning people, they will come to you with needs.

   i.      Jesus was approached to heal a lunatic, demon possession, an extreme case.

ii.      Jesus was not intimidated by the request, no problem bring him here.

iii.      Pastors and disciples on the other hand do not react in this manner. (Expound)

Healing is the nature of God, He enjoys the oppressed healed.

   i.      (Matt 14:14) Compassion for the sick

(Luke 14:1-6) Heals on the Sabbath day, God interest on the flock

Jesus sees man with eyes of compassion and acts on the needs before him. This has not changed.

Jesus sees our needs. We do not think that God cares but he does.

2.      Prayer and Fasting      (Matt. 17:19-20)

Unbelief is the killer of miracles, you must have faith

We know God can do all things but the vessels he uses are not quite to the par.

   i.      It takes discipline boys and girls

ii.      Prayer and fasting in other words people who are willing to labor spiritually

iii.      It is easy to hang with Jesus and be a part of the work of God but Prayer and fasting.

There is a cost for having the power of God; He calls us to a lifestyle of seeking God.

   i.      (Matt. 6:33) Seek Godís kingdom

ii.      (James 5:14-15) Prayer of a righteous mans makes the difference

iii.      There are you willing to invest in Godís kingdom?

iv.      Faith and obedience working together to have dominion over the devil.

3.      Preach and Heal:     (Matt. 10:7-10)

Godís commission is to Preach the Gospel and heal the sick

There must be actions to the words you speak.

Can God heal, so can you

You are representing Jesus Christ, preaching his kingdom.

   i.      Do you feel being that being a powerless preacher is what God had in mind?

ii.      Jesus depends on the church to accomplish his will, this means you.

iii.      Are you going to have a solution when the sick approach his Kingdom?

iv.      Your it fellow, letís not try to pass it on to someone else.

 v.      The sick approached Jesus and he met the challenge, so must you?

vi.      My biggest fear is that while in the ministry I do not have solutions for those that approach God.

1.      Since we are his representative

2.      Youíre the last hope, they might not ever approach God again

3.      We look for excuses why we can believe God

4.      It is not Godís timing, keep praying, Trust God, and how about receive your miracle?

5.      Let us not miss the opportunity to do his work.

Matt 17:14-20

14        And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,

15        Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

16        And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.

17        Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.

18        And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

19        Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

20        And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

21        Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Matt 14:14

14        And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

Luke 14:1-6

1          And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.

2          And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.

3          And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?

4          And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;

5          And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?

6          And they could not answer him again to these things.

Matt 6:33

33        But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

James 5:14-15

14        Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15        And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Matt 10:7-8

7          And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

8          Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. (KJV)
